Executive Sous Chef Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the chosen candidate will perform an array of duties to run a profitable, clean, and well-equipped kitchen. The Executive Sous Chef will also be responsible for overseeing day to day operations including coaching and motivating the Kitchen staff. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Compensation

  • Total compensation ranging from $50,000 -$65,000
  • Salary reviewed annually

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in food menu creation and implementation to GRETA standards
  • Uphold a positive culture by cultivating relationships, leading by example, and mentoring your team members
  • Train and coach staff in all kitchen positions and systems
  • Maintain excellent food execution and food safety compliance
  • Ensure that food quality and standards are being met
  • Support inventory, labor costs and cost of goods reporting
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor daily food preparation and production
  • Scheduling of staff align with labour targets and allotted budgets

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to perform well independently as well as on a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work neatly, efficiently, and safely in a fast-paced environment

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a sous chef
  • Knowledge of the standards and regulations for food preparation
  • Red Seal certification is considered an asset
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Experience working in conventions is considered an asset
